4 Ways To Find Time To Exercise – “Everyone’s got 5 Minutes”

running clockDoes this sound familiar?  “Uggh too tired to workout before work, think I’ll hit the snooze and just roll over.  Besides, I can do it later when I get home and feel more awake.”  I know you’ve heard and done that a time or too.  It DOESN’T happen later right???

We’ve all done it.  Yes, even me the freak of all exercise freaks is guilty.  I almost did it today, but I drug my butt out of bed, got it together and even beat my last time on one of my favorite little road ride routes.  Had no choice.  Needed to be back, done and in my webcam workout studio before my 7:30 am client.

If this situation happens to you more than you’d like or care to admit, don’t feel bad.  You’re not alone.  Ask around and you’ll find that “Time” is the most common excuse or obstacle that get’s in the way of us moving.

As with every situation, there’s hope and you don’t have to worry that you’re going to have to slot an hour a day of exercise into your all ready crazy schedule.  Just try one or a few of these 4 strategies each day this week and before you know it, that nasty 8 letter word “exercise” will become a habit (only takes about 3-4 weeks to form a habit).

4 Ways To Find Time To Exercise

1.) Go to bed and wake up 15 minutes earlier.   If you can get in 15 minutes of anything before you go to work, I guarantee you’ll be in a better mood, boost your metabolism, be more productive and feel like a million bucks.  A quick little hike, walk or jog with a few push-ups, mountain climbers and prisoner squats or lunges thrown in will give you a little cardio and strength training at the same time.  Here’s an example of a quick little 15 min outdoor workout.

2.) Take a 5 Minute Mid-Day Exercise Break.  “Everyone’s got 5 minutes” and NO ONE can claim that their productivity peaks at an all time high all day long.  Many of us fade after 10-40 minutes.  So, instead of slogging through your day.  Get up from your desk take a quick walk or do a few simple exercises at your desk like some prisoner squats, stick-ups, or lunges.  You’ll feel better and get a ton more done.

3.) Log Off and Re-Connect.  Spend a lot of time on social media sites?  Why not use that 5-15 minutes and re-connect with a family member or friend and go for a talk (walk + talk).  Catch up on each others day while your moving.  Better for the brain, body and heart.

4.) Turn Your Must See TV into Must Move TV.  I prefer going outside to exercise, but if you’ve got to catch up on your favorite shows, ride a stationary bike, walk on your treadmill or do a few squats, lunges or even do a few backward rolls during commercials.
