At a quick glance it looks like I mis-spelled the title of this blog post, but chances are you may have seen HIIT may know that it’s a very popular acronym which stands for High Intensity Interval Training.
If you’re like most of us, TIME is a precious commodity and is also one of the biggest reasons according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control) why most people don’t exercise.
Recent research eliminates that excuse and has actually proven that you can invest far less time than our government guidelines suggest and get just as good if not better results. And who doesn’t want to spend less time exercising and lose more fat? Here’s an outline of a quick little 20 minute workout that should help you shrink your pants size.
20 Minute Workout
All you need to do for the 20 minute workout is alternate between 1 minute of high intensity work with 1 minute of recovery and you’ll find yourself getting fitter and your pants getting looser in as little as 2 weeks. Here’s an example.
- 3-5 minute easy warm-up
- 1 minute hard exercise at level 8-9 and barely able to talk ( on a scale of 1-10 10 being crazy hard that you can’t peddle another stroke or take another step)
- 1 minute easy recovery level 2-3
- Rinse and repeat 6-10 times
- Cool Down 3-5 minutes easy level 1-3
Total time invested can be as little as 20 minutes and no more than 30.
What’s your experience with interval training? Ever tried it? If you have, I bet you got killer results. Let us know in the comment section below and spread the word that time doesn’t have to be an excuse not to move anymore.
Below is a really good video posted on the New York Times blog site if you’ve got a quick 5 minutes it’s worth the watch.
