Took a day and a half break from my computer and internet land to spend some quality time with my family. Well, I had a very nice time however, I arrived home late last night in a bit of a fog. Some may say I’m a bit phsychosomatic, but I swear when you’ve not had a stitch of sugar (other than the sugar in fruit), caffeine or processed foods for about 2 1/2 months, your body can tell the difference. And you know what, I didn’t even go crazy with the cookies or sweets. Just the additions of a little dairy, wheat and sugar made a mess of me and I guess a lot of my families traditional holiday foods don’t include as many fruits and veggies as I’m accustom to. I was feeling so bloaty that I whipped up a detox drink to ease my symptoms when I got home. Even if it was in my head all it took was several handfuls of organic baby spinach, a little water and the juice of a fresh lemon blended into a bright green rescue beverage to ease my pain. The spinach gave me added fiber, vitamins and minerals that I missed out on and the lemon juice gave my liver a little flush. In my head or not, I woke up today feeling like a new woman. So what’s my point? I read a quote the other day by "Alwyne Cosgrove" that said: "It’s not what you eat or how you train between Christmas and New Years that matters, it’s what you eat and how you train between New Years and Christmas." And there in lies success for anyone looking to lose fat and improve their health and fitness level. It’s not about DOING. It’s about BEING. Success in this whole Fitness and "Green" initiative is not about just a diet, exercise program or re-cycling once in a while. Success and real significant lasting changes are all about LIFESTYLE! And all it takes is one little step at a time.
