We’ve made up our minds, scheduled the time, shoes are on, and the plan is made! So what’s the plan? Do you feel like your head is swirling in the spinning sea of the many diet and exercise programs guaranteed to produce results!
Everywhere we turn, we’re bombarded with new improved ways to reduce our waistline. Books, TV, Radio and The Internet all claim to have the answer to the battle of the bulge.
In fact, according to Bowker’s Books in Print database, in 2006 there were 41,838 books with the Health & Fitness classification still in print and 3,548 new titles & editions were published in the Health & Fitness category. Also, since 1995, the number of new books in this category increased by more than 60%.
It’s no wonder we sometimes become overwhelmed to the extent that it’s easier to just do nothing. We become victims of “paralysis by analysis”.
However, the answer really is simple. It’s not complex and doesn’t have to consume huge amounts of time and money. The first thing we need to do is to incorporate activities into our daily lives that are enjoyable. If we don’t like it….We’re more than likely not gonna do it. Or if we do wind up forcing ourselves for a while, we’ll soon quit because we don’t have a pleasurable feeling associated with it.
So how about if we figure that out and do what they say on the Nike commercials. “Just do it!”
